The Dom Flemons American Songster Collection is located at Vanderbilt University’s Special Collection Library in Nashville, TN. The collection (110 linear feet) consists of audio recordings, materials related to the creation of the album Black Cowboys, reference materials, drafts and liner notes, correspondence, ephemera and tour materials, press and promotional materials, photographs, folk art and fan art, garments, artifacts, framed items, posters, books, digital files (not yet available) and musical instruments. UNC Chapel Hill
The Dom Flemons collection at University of North Carolina Chapel Hill- Southern Folklife Collection is 11 linear feet and consists of 2500 items including audio and video recordings, photographs, publicity and press materials, concert and festival programs, news articles, a few letters, and other materials, documenting the musical career of Dom Flemons and the Carolina Chocolate Drops. Photographs are professional portraits and snapshots of the band and its individual members during photographic shoots and performances. Audio and video recordings are chiefly of live performances. Also included are a few items relating to the recording process, including lyrics, set lists, legal documents, and album sales and design materials. There are also transcripts, videotapes, and promotional literature from the first Black Banjo Gathering in Boone, N.C., in 2005.
